another day mp3

Ugh, what a day.

The new offices at work are going to be nice.. But they are also going to be a "thing" ... Who has what office, window, where they sit, donapos;t sit, etc...

During lunch, I called Andrea.... That was fun Guess itapos;s really been since 11th grade that Iapos;ve talked to her -- never would have recognized her voice in a million years. Sheapos;s living in Florida, married for 18 years happily, has four children - James, Isabella, Jacob, and Johnathon (16, 10, 8, 4).. Wow Her older brother (I barely remember him) is doing well, parents are doing well, and Anita had gotten married twice, but her second marriage was really good, and I think she said they had his kids or something. She did have a nephew killed in Iraq last January. :( Her path to Florida was because her parents moved there when she was 19... She stayed in Michigan living with her older brother for a while, then he moved there... Later she followed. Went to massage school in Tampa, ending up meeting her husband there. Sounds like Anita settled down there, too... So theyapos;re pretty close geography, and all "happy endings" - hah, how nice. We were talking about the other girls we hung with in junior high high school.... Said the last update I had other than Michele was from 1991 when Dad died -- but Sandy was the friendly ditz, Margie was the homewrecker whoapos;d broken up someoneapos;s marriage, and Pam was the welfare queen with kids scattered around the country she wasnapos;t taking care (in other words, no surprises). Andrea said sheapos;d talked to Pam about a month ago, and her life was still predictably screwed up. I think I was probably a surprise "happy ending" -- she said she remembered my parents were very unhappy, and that I was extremely unhappy -- haha, thereapos;s an understatement of the year award Still, I am glad to have gotten away, and found normal.

And then Mom last night. Whatever.

She called me, desperate for me to transfer money over from savings (I already had Saturday).. But she had, just HAD to go to JCPenneys to buy a pea coat (just what is a pea coat anyway?) that was on sale for $60, and it was normally $300. I pointed out that she was not in a good place, and we went over her expenses that sheapos;s spent so far, but mostly... Iapos;ve given up with her.

Anyway, at the end of the work day she called me back.. And I was frustrated because Iapos;d been struggling with PayNGo all afternoon... She was saying how she bought the pea coat and a skirt that was 75 off...and I just said I didnapos;t know what to tell her any more. So she says Iapos;m talking down to her like sheapos;s a kid, and how sheapos;s sure I wish sheapos;d just commit suicide, blah blah blah; I wasnapos;t in a mood to deal with it, so I hung up on her.

On the way home I talked to Randy.. And Irene, apos;cause I thought she might have some good advice, or at least I could just calm down a little anyway. I even called Nancy to give her the heads up that theyapos;d probably get a call from mom (she already had, but was going to call her back because they had been in the middle of dinner).

Anyway, so Randy and I called her together.. He could say the exact kind of things I did, but he wasnapos;t talking down to her, oh no. Thatapos;s just me, because Iapos;m unaware of the voice I use with her. I think it stung that I told her all the girls at work say Iapos;m much more patient with her than they could be. Anyway, she blames the "price fixers" and the cost of everything, but sheapos;s NEVER hit the mark on her spending budget, not just now in rising prices - altho now does make it harder. So, Randy says he wants to sit down with her and go through her receipts and at least figure out a target budget that she can live with, because she has no clue what that number is. (And she doesnapos;t want to be talked to like a child? She wants to just buy and buy and not even try to live within any kind of means.)

Okay... So we end on a pretty unsatisfactory note.. Make dinner, eat... Iapos;m pretty tired at that point,, but I know Iapos;ve got to get Matthew packed for camp.. I try to get him to help and he lays on the couch and refuses, and I go into raving-lunatic mom mode... By the time itapos;s done, Iapos;m spewing at him, at Rebecca, and Randy has taken him and pushed him out the door, and itapos;s all gotten ugly. Mom calls around 9:30 and I answer the phone and yelled at her -- Iapos;ve already taken it out on everyone in this house, so do not think it is a good idea if youapos;re just calling back for more of the same. Yeah, she hangs up pretty quick.

So, finally, Matt is in his bed sulking (and whiile he should have helped, he didnapos;t deserve what I gave him, either).. Iapos;ve burst into tears.. Randyapos;s actually calm but what can he say.. So I call Mom and say I am tired of the fight, it will take 4-5 days to transfer her savings from the "high" interest rate account I have it in (well, 3 1/2 is better than the normal savings account), weapos;ll get her signature on the secondary account in her bank, and itapos;s hers to control. Sheapos;s open to the idea at first, but that probably does screw up what little benefit she gets from MHMR and stuff, plus thereapos;s a reason we moved it out of her name - to help protect her assets if something catastrophic happened to her... So I think itapos;s left that we arenapos;t going to do that.. But I donapos;t know what to do with her.

I just know Iapos;m tired of her affecting my adult life, and itapos;s got to stop. Randy and the kids deserve better.
